HWA Board - Professor James Bishop AO

Professor Bishop is currently the Commonwealth Chief Medical Officer and brings significant health workforce experience and expertise to the HWA. Professor Bishop was awarded an Order of Australia for his service to medicine, particularly in the field of cancer treatment and research.

He has considerable industry experience including working as a consultant medical oncologist, Director of Haemotology and Medical Oncology at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute in Melbourne, Director of the Sydney Cancer Centre at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Concord Hospital in Sydney, Director of the Cancer Service for the Central Sydney Area Health Service and CEO of the Cancer Institute NSW.
