The new senior leadership team for Health Workforce Australia (HWA) has been announced today with a number of key positions being filled. These appointments follow an extensive national recruitment and executive search process.

All Executive Directors will be based in the new HWA headquarters in Adelaide.

Communique - Clinical Supervisor Support Program - Discussion Paper and Consultation Forums

The 2008 National Partnership Agreement (NPA) on Hospital and Health Workforce Reform includes a specific component to expand clinical training supervision capacity and competence.  Health Workforce Australia (HWA) has prepared a Discussion Paper to consider supervision across professions and the educational continuum from professional entry through to post graduate and vocational training.

Media Release - $429m boost to training of health professionals

Health Workforce Australia (HWA) has announced a new funding round to increase the number of clinical training places for health professional students throughout Australia.

On Saturday 15 May 2010, HWA will be calling for proposals from government agencies, universities and non government health and aged care providers to increase clinical training places for health professional students, effective from the 2011 academic year.

As announced by Health Ministers on 22 April 2010, a significant expansion of clinical training capacity for health and medical professionals is underway as part of the $1.6 billion Hospital and Health Workforce Reform National Partnership Agreement announced by COAG in November 2008.

The first board of Health Workforce Australia (HWA) has been appointed, with the Hon Jim McGinty being appointed to the position of chairman of the Board.

The 12 other Members of the Board have experience across a broad cross section of health professionals - including doctors, nursing and allied health - as well as people with knowledge and expertise in teaching, training and running our vital health services.
