Postgraduate Medical Training

Description and Objectives

A study of capacity planning for postgraduate medical training in hospital settings has been recently completed. The study has resulted in a report and the capacity and pipelining tool (CAPT) which allows facility administrators and workforce planners to explore different workforce configurations and training arrangements and to observe the predicted effects on training and patient care capacity.

Qualitative and quantitative information was gathered from public metropolitan, outer suburban and major regional hospitals to improve the understanding of issues associated with increasing the flow of graduate medical officers into the workforce and the implications for modelling trainee: supervisor scenarios.

Training sessions are being conducted during the later half of 2011 to familiarise interested participants in the use of the Planning Tool. To register your interest in accessing the Tool and attending a training session please contact the person listed below.
